HERBOLOGY

The term "herb" refers to any part of a plant used for flavoring or medicine. At Eye Spy Health & Wellness, although use of herbs for food enhancement is also encouraged, the clinical use of herbal remedies is recommended for its nutrional and medicinal value. Plants have been used as medicine for over 4,000 years by many cultures. In the early 1800's a herbal therapy system was developed by pioneer herbalist Samuel Thompson and was sometimes known as the "physiomedical system", where herbs were considered an aid to assisting the body's own natural ability to heal itself. You may ask yourself "how is this different from drug therapy"? In pharmaceutical drug therapy a doctor looks for a specific cause for disease and then prescribes a medicine to make specific chemical changes in the body to correct the causes. In herbal therapy, the practitioner sees dis-ease as an imbalance existing in the body. And then he/she would recommend herbal remedies which would prevent toxins from being absorbed by the bowel, tonify and build related organs like the kidneys or liver, and increase the discharge of toxins through the eliminative organs, such as the urinary tract and bowels. This will then focus on assisting a self-healing process which allows the body to restore its own balance.

At Eye Spy Health & Wellness the purest of herbal remedies are recommended, using careful evaluation of the body's needs. A pain free method called "muscle response testing" (see Energy Medicine) is used to measure a remedy match and its dosage, which is geared to fit each individual's body rhythm and sensitivity.
